The League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) held the Medal of Recognition awarding ceremony, the culmination of its inaugural effort to recognize outstanding CSR initiatives of organizations which are not members of LCF, on Friday, July 5, 2024 at the CSR Expo at the Glorietta Activity Center, Glorietta Mall, Makati City.

LCF was established in 1991 to promote Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practice in the Philippines and enhance the capacity of practitioners in this field. As LCF approaches its 30th anniversary, it now also works to celebrate good citizenship beyond its membership and to promote social responsibility beyond its ranks.

Through the Medal of Recognition, LCF works to recognize and promulgate impactful and beneficial initiatives undertaken by non-LCF member organizations in their respective spheres and communities. The Medal of Recognition is open to for-profit corporates/enterprises and corporate foundations. It honors exemplary initiatives of non-member organizations across seven thematic areas: Arts and Culture, Disaster Resilience, Education, Environment, Enterprise Development, Financial Inclusion, and Health.

13 companies submitted 33 entries to the inaugural Medal of Recognition. Entries were duly reviewed by the LCF Steering Committee (STEERCOM), which is composed of the LCF Board of Trustees and the leadership of the LCF Committees. Entries that were not selected as finalists were honored with a Certificate of Congratulations. Finalists garnered a Plaque of Commendation, and winners were honored with a Medal of Recognition trophy.
The finalists and winners were across the Education, Environment, Health, Enterprise Development, and Disaster Resilience categories. The roster of finalists and winners per category is as follows:

Sebastian C. Quiniones, Jr., LCF Board Chairperson and Executive Director, Pilipinas Shell Foundation, said, “In line with its work and mission to grow awareness of and promote the practice of corporate social responsibility or CSR, LCF now works to recognize CSR excellence undertaken by non-LCF members through the Medal of Recognition. We are pleased that our inaugural effort has been enthusiastically participated in by our entrants this year, and look forward to next year’s effort.”

The Medal of Recognition awarding ceremony preceded the launch of the LIFE initiative—which stands for LCF’s Intervention for Food Security, Nutrition, and Empowerment, and aims to spark collaboration within the League and with external organizations in order to target child wasting and stunting across the Philippines—and as part of the celebration of National CSR Week in the Philippines. LCF is mandated to lead the celebration of National CSR Week on the first week of July by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 299, s. 2000, including through organizing the yearly CSR Conference and Expo.
