Philam Foundation is the corporate social responsibility arm of the Philam Group of Companies. Established in 1997 to commemorate Philam Life’s 50th Golden Anniversary, the Foundation has then focused its assistance in the areas of Health, Education, Arts & Culture and Livelihood Development (HEAL).
To date, Philam Foundation focuses on promoting “healthy, wealthy and wise” initiatives through its three main programs – Philam Paaralan, Philam SAVES and ALPHA.
Philam Paaralan, one of the flagship program of Philam Foundation aims to empower more Filipino youth through education by building disaster resilient and fully-furnished classrooms with restrooms in calamity-stricken, un-served and under-served areas around the country.
In response to the government’s financial inclusion policy which had financial literacy as its most important component, the advocacy to promote financial awareness and literacy as well as financial wellness is what Philam Savings Awareness and Values Education Session (Philam SAVES) has been doing. This program aims to promote the value of savings and being thrifty to children and their parents for them to be financially aware, literate and secure in the future. Philam SAVES is an effort to further integrate and align the CSR initiatives of Philam Group with its core business.
With regards to health, Philam Foundation, Inc. has formed the Alliance for the Philippines’ Health and Advocacy (ALPHA) in partnership with the Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS) and Philippine College of Physicians (PCP). ALPHA seeks to address the health challenges faced by Filipinos through data-driven and evidenced based health advocacies and projects. One of the three areas of concentration is on Cancer, in partnership with Cancer Registry Philippines (CARE) where they committed to working for better healthcare for the Filipino patient, through careful collection and analysis of representative data regarding the incidence, prevalence, time to progression and overall survival of Filipinos diagnosed with cancer.
