As the corporate social responsibility arm of the country’s leading bank, BDO Foundation finds ways to help Filipinos achieve financial empowerment. It does this by partnering with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and various institutions to conduct financial literacy trainings all over the country.
These financial literacy programs target:
24 million public school students
800,000 teachers and non-teaching personnel
2.3 million overseas Filipino workers
1,000 civilian personnel of the army
3,000 farmers a year
Together with its partners, BDO Foundation developed entertaining and informative videos as well as discussion guides to impart important financial lessons.Lessons cover a wide range of topics such as:
- Debt management
- Scam avoidance
- Retirement planning
BDO Foundation knows that people’s financial health is closely linked to their physical health. Illnesses drain finances and prevent people from working for a better life. This is why the foundation funds and undertakes the rehabilitation of rural health units, particularly in communities that are economically challenged or reeling from a disaster.
BDO Foundation has rehabilitated more than 80 health centers across the country, benefitting over 4.8 million people.
In line with its post-disaster rehabilitation efforts, BDO Foundation has also constructed:
34 school buildings and 116 classrooms with 32,657 student beneficiaries
636 resettlement homes for 576 families
The foundation is also immediately present after a disaster. Bank employees, especially those in branches, are quickly mobilized to distribute relief goods in evacuation sites.
BDO Foundation does all these in partnership with many non-profit organizations, international institutions, government agencies, the academe, generous partners, and volunteers.
