MDC, Ayala Foundation assists DSWD rice delivery
As the cases of COVID-19 rises, the need for sustained sources of food increases. With many parts of the country under enhanced community quarantine, the challenge of transporting food is a daily reality.
Recognizing this concern, the Makati Development Corporation (MDC), the construction arm of Ayala Land Inc., recently partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development in delivering 1,800 sacks of rice from the National Food Authority in General Trias, Cavite to the DSWD Warehouses in San Esteban, Dasmariñas, and GMA, Cavite.
The partnership was facilitated by Ayala Foundation, the social development arm of the Ayala group.
The delivery was led by Pablito Binalla, head of MDC Equipment Solutions Inc. (MEQ), together with his team, Ariel Ocampo and Reymart Santiago.
Ocampo, who served as the driver during the delivery, expressed his happiness at helping with the delivery to communities in need. “Nagpapasalamat kami sa Panginoon at sa patuloy na paggabay sa aming biyahe, he said. “Kami po ay lubos na natutuwa sa aming paghatid ng mga bigas para sa krisis na nararanasan natin ngayon, na kahit malayo tayo sa pamilya ay nakatutulong tayo sa iba.”
The Ayala group of companies has actively supported nationwide and community-based efforts in the fight against COVID-19 by providing resources and opening donation channels for health and other sectors. It also provided protective personal equipment for medical and law enforcement front-liners.
The Ayala group is also contributing significantly to Project Ugnayan, an initiative among various business groups, which seeks to address the food requirements of between 1 to 1.5 million poor families in Metro Manila.
