LCF Backs ASEAN Corporate Foundation Network

The League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) marked the first day of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Conference 2008 with a commitment to support the creation of a network of corporate foundations spanning the member-countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

In a Commitment of Support between LCF and the ASEAN Foundation, the parties agreed to “explore mutual areas of cooperation to advocate corporate social responsibility and further the role of the private sector” in development efforts in the ASEAN region.

The Commitment of Support was a spontaneous offshoot of discussions on corporate social responsibility (CSR) practice in the ASEAN region, one of the sessions at the CSR Conference 2008.

LCF Chairperson Marilou Erni believes this Commitment presents an opportunity for LCF to share the unique dimensions of Philippine CSR to other ASEAN countries, as well as improve CSR practice here based on lessons from the entire region.

The document was signed by Erni, LCF President Pacita Juan and ASEAN Foundation Executive Director Dr. Filemon Uriarte Jr.

LCF is a network of over 70 operating and grant-making corporate foundations and corporations seeking to provide business solutions to social and environmental problems in the Philippines.

The CSR Conference 2008 is LCF’s seventh annual gathering to promote CSR to a broad range of audiences. The Conference is from July 16 to 18 at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel.
