The members of the Committee on Education are bound together by a common concern to advocate education reform and to make education a national priority.

The members work collectively and in partnership with the Department of Education by sharing information, combining resources, undertaking joint education and training-related projects, and holding dialogues with concerned educational and training institutions in both the private and public sector.

EDUCATION committee aims to make education a national priority and promotes its reform, often partnering with the Department of Education as well as concerned public and private institutions.

"Towards More Strategic CSR in Education"

The Education Committee special event at the 2014 LCF CSR Expo, held July 25 at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, Department of Education.

Private sector support has become an invaluable part of the education reform agenda over the years in Philippine education. The urgency to help address problems in various areas of the system has been met not only with prompt response, but also with a collective one.

There is no doubt that the contributions of CSR in education have been substantive, but the fact remains that much has yet to be done. While various initiatives have seen inroads in certain aspects, critical issues besetting the system, and their impact on the country's human capital competitiveness have yet to be addressed strategically.

With a substantive amount of private sector resource being made available for education year in and year out, and with the reform process zeroing in on critical issues that need attention, it would be prudent to pull resources towards specific strategies that would yield measurable positive results where it matters.

This session provided an opportunity for companies involved in education advocacy to not only showcase their initiatives and best practices, but also to, equally important, determine how best they can have their campaigns strategically address critical issues in the education agenda together.

Pilipino sa Isip, sa Salita at sa Gawa

The 5 Cs Approach: Molding Responsible and Engaged Citizens through Education Programs

As a country, we have proven time and again that positive change can take place when we Filipinos unite and put our acts. Daunting as it may seem, nation-building becomes doable if everyone will do his/her share.

It all starts with being responsible and engaged Filipino citizens.

Being a Pilipino sa isip, sa salita at sa gawa calls on us to embrace and integrate the core values that define our identity as a people in everything that we do. Some of these values as enshrined in our Constitution are as follows: Faith in the Almighty, Patriotism, Respect for Life, Respect for Law and Government, Justice, Freedom, Love, Equality, Peace, Promotion of the Common Good and Concern for the Environment together.

While our Education Programs have the power to improve knowledge and skills, they ca also empower the youth to become agents of change for a better society.
