Metrobank Foundation Recognizes Filipino Artists

The Metrobank Foundation (MBF) recently recognized the winners of its 2011 Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) National Competition. An awarding ceremony and exhibit opening held 15 September 2011 at the Le Pavilion Hall in Pasay City showcased the works of the awardees and finalists in the various visual arts of sculpting, painting, architecture, and interior design.

In his welcoming remarks, MBF President Chito Sobrepena likened the budding pool of Filipino artists to blank canvases filled with immense potential. The winners of the competition in the different categories are:

PAINTING (Oil/ Acrylic on Canvas):

Grand Prize: Jericho Valjusto G. Vamenta

2nd Prize: Alexander M. Roxas

3rd Prize: Julmard D. Vicente

 

PAINTING (Water Media on Paper):

Grand Prize: Chrisanto N. Aquino

Special Prize: Eduardo Santos, Jr.

 

SCUPLTURE:

Grand Prize: Arch. Jonathan V. Dangue

Special Prize: Van Cleef N. Emnacen

METROBANK FOUNDATION PRIZE FOR ACHIEVEMENT IN SCULPTURE: Priscillano R. Vicaldo

INTERIOR DESIGN:

 Grand Prize: IDr. Angelo Venci S. Del Mundo

Special Prize: IDr. Childy Ramos Elamparo

ARCHITECTURE:

 Grand Prize: Arch. Oscar J. Penasales

Performances from the dance troupe Airdance and the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra provided lively entertainment for the guests.

The MADE National Competition is held yearly and is open to young Filipino painters and sculptors 18 to 35 years old and licensed architects and interior designers 25 to 45 years old. In partnership with Philippine Institute of Interior Designers, United Architects of the Philippines, Federal Land and BluPrint, the competition aims to provide a venue for creative expressions of young talented artists and designers.
