Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) works with Tanay farmers in delivering healthy food to frontliners
While the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) has ushered in a new reality for the entire country, it has also ignited solidarity across all sectors of society.
A small farming community in Tanay, Rizal, with direct assistance from Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI), joined the fight against the virus by providing fruits and vegetables to help keep our brave frontliners healthy. PSFI, through its pilot intervention program, “Ani Para sa Bayani”, facilitated the procurement and transportation of the produce from the farmers and donated this to Frontline Feeders Philippines, a group of private individuals working together to provide nourishing meals to frontline workers across Metro Manila.
Prior to the intervention, the farmers of Tanay were struggling to bring their produce to markets given the limits set on transportation as part of the ECQ. Through PSFI, fruits and vegetables which would otherwise have gone to waste were used to provide 1,575 meals to healthcare workers in 10 hospitals.
