Feeding Young Minds Bodies with the Dynamic Team Company

RWM CSR Officer Elaine Castillo (center, in glasses) joins Pasay Social Development Center Head Mary Cris Balictar, PSWD members and house parents, and members of the Dynamic Teen Company during the launch of the TK3 program for the benefit of children under the care of the Pasay Social Welfare and Development Department.

The students are boys and girls aged 4-17 who are under the care of the Pasay Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) Department at the city’s Social Development Center. These kids are considered at-risk and vulnerable children, who lack the protection and reliability of a stable home environment and in many cases, are out-of-school youth.

Through the coordination efforts of the Local Government of Pasay, the Dynamic Teen Company and RWM have come together to create an enjoyable and conducive learning environment for the children.

Dynamic Teen Company tutors – student volunteers from various colleges and universities have come up with an engaging curriculum where participants learn through weekly tutoring and games.

In addition to basic academics, the children are also taught character development lessons through team-building games.

For its part, RWM provides the children with healthy and tasty snacks to keep them energized for their lessons.

“For many underprivileged children, not having baon or something to eat while they’re in school is one leading cause for absences,” said Stephen Reilly, Chief Operating Officer for RWM. “And one can imagine that it’s difficult to learn if one is hungry, so we’re happy to provide their snacks for every day that they are learning under the TK3 program.”

The TK3 is a 6 month-long, weekly intervention program that aims to bring back love for learning and interest of schooling to every out-of-school and street child who is committed to the care of the PSWD. As a member of the Pasay City community, RWM regularly assists the city government through sustained partnerships with the PSWD.
